When Apple unveiled the iPhone 4 they tried to hide some of the technical specifications of the iPhone 4 for e.g. Processor Speed, RAM etc. so, the users can focus on it’s overall functionality. But customers should know on what thing is currently their hands on.
The original iPhone & iPhone 3G contained total 128MB of RAM and iPhone 3GS was upgraded to 256MB of RAM after that. Also, iPad has same RAM as iPhone 3GS. The reason behind Apple not offering iOS 4 features on iPhone 3G is the RAM is not enough to handle it.
Now, Apple has revealed that the upcoming iPhone 4 has 512 MB RAM which is twice the iPad and iPhone 3GS. This RAM will help iPhone in increasing performance as well as multi-tasking feature and of course the iPhone 4 new video editor 
Apple has increased the iPhone 4 so it can handle the upcoming iPhone Operating systems which requires more technical specs.
In near future Steve Jobs will be releasing a new product named, iStone. Durable, Reliable & 10,000BC old.
